History

Miami Beach Golf Club was developed by Carl Fisher and originally opened in 1923.

Initially it was known as The Bayshore Course.

In the early 2000's the course was given a significant makeover, overseen by Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest.

And the name changed to Miami Beach Golf Club

Tournaments

In 2011 the inaugural South Beach international amateur was held at Miami Beach GC.

It has hosted the event for every year since, with 28 countries represented..

 Course

As you can imagine given the course location, the site is completely flat with water hazards defining many of the holes.

There are only a handful of holes where the water does not play a major role..

Palm trees delineate fairways where water is absent.

The bunkering is strategic, and relatively quiet in keeping with the surrounding landscape.

Miami Beach GC is a nice walk (or cart ride) and a reasonably challenging round of golf.

And it is not overly expensive!

Notable Holes include:

- hole 3, a short, pretty, all water carry par 3

Miami Beach is a unique destination with the magnificent beaches central to so much activity.

Amongst other sports, we were amazed by the skill of the foot volleyball players..

Miami is also a key transit airport and a great spot to stop for a few nights between flights.

And if you have a stopover, a game at Miami Beach Club might fit the bill. It's an interesting public access course and not too expensive
