Golf at Casa de Campo started with the opening of Pete Dye's wonderful Teeth of the Dog course in 1971.

With seven handcrafted holes right on the coastline the course was an instant success.

In 1974 Dye's Links course opened, followed by La Romana in 1974.

Dye Fore was the last of the courses designed by Pete Dye, opening in 2005.

Both La Romana and Dye Fore are 27 hole courses, with three loops of nine holes.

Course- Links

Links is a nicely designed (Pete Dye) parkland course close to Teeth of the Dog.

It has little undulation through the property.

The tree lined holes are generously wide. bit twist and turn.

There are quite a number of doglegs.

Strategically placed bunkers define the lines of play.

That bunkering defines the course.

But the highlight reel really begins on the water holes on the back nine.

Play is directed around and over water on holes 12-16.

These holes look great but more importantly challenge the golfer on both carry and line.

Misses result in lost balls, and this always get your attention!

The Links is no match for 'Teeth', but it is a lovely day's golf.

Notable holes include:

Hole 3, a longer gently uphill par 4 with a raised green

- Hole 12, a mid length par 4 that arcs around a lake (which is very much in play for the approach)

- Hole 13, a short par 3 over a lake

- Hole 14, a right to left dogleg around water

- Hole 15, another strong par 4 over and around the lake

- Hole 16, a short par 3 over water to a boarded green ( see pic top of page)

There are three public access courses at Casa de Campo.

With the accommodation, restaurants, beaches and wonderful climate Casa de Campo should not be a two day stay!

Rather four days at Casa de Campo with rounds at Teeth of The Dog (twice), Dye Fore & Links is a pretty good golf trip.

Add four more days Punta Cana and it is a great trip.

Recommended!
