Both Sides Now!

An Escorted Golf Tour of Canada

It seems Canada is on everyone's bucket list!

The Rocky Mountains dominate itineraries with visits to Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper- and the trip up the Icefields Parkway all absolutely unmissable...
And a journey from Banff to Vancouver on the famous Rocky Mountaineer train is one of the world's most famous train rides and absolutely spectacular.

On the east coast the magnificent coast of Cape Breton Island now has three of the best courses in Canada bringing golfers in from all over the world.
Highland Links has long been regarded as one of the best few courses in Canada, but now the two courses at nearby Cabot Links has the golfing world in a state of excitement! Most experts seem to agree that Cabot Cliffs will be instantly regarded as one of the world's great courses on opening...

Our trip also visits Toronto- for fabulous golf, fine dining, perhaps a Loreena McKennit concert and a Blue Jays game. If time permits some will want to add a day trip to Niagara Falls...

Golf

As with all Travelling Golfer signature trips, this trip seeks to find a balance between sightseeing, culture, sporting events, quality accommodation, an appreciation for fine wine and dining, and of course the very best golf courses.

Canada is a vast spectacular country with a variety of courses of the highest calibre. On this trip we intend to play most of their very best!

Itinerary

Our trip covers a lot of territory!

Stage 1: Cape Breton Island

We begin our epic journey on Cape Breton island where we have 4 days to take in the breathtaking coastline and play 3 of the best golf courses in the world. Highland Links is a classic Stanley Thompson design that is still regarded no 3 course in all of Canada.

After experiencing one of the most dramatic coastlines in the world we then arrive at Cabot Links where the Links course is rated no 2 in Canada and the brand new Cliffs course is expected to go straight to no 1!

Whew!

What a dramatic opening to the trip.

After a quick flight to Toronto we settle in for 3 full days and 4 nights- and believe me they will be be full days, and full of a variety of experiences.

A heavy weighting of the best courses in Canada are in Toronto and surrounds and we are spoiled for choice here. We cannot confirm at this early stage but we are hopeful of gaining access to them for 2 or 3 games of golf, including a friendly match against our hosts at one of Canada's most private courses. Some will opt to forego a 3rd game of golf for a day trip to Niagara Falls- the option is yours. We are also hopeful of attending a Blue Jays game, and possibly a concert. Throw in some fine dining and the Toronto experience will be something to be savoured...

Stage 2: Toronto & The Rocky Mountains

Chateau Whistler GCChateau Whistler GC

We fly from Toronto to Vancouver to commence Stage 2 of the trip. Rocky Mountains, here we come!

After an afternoon to explore Vancouver, we hit the ground running the next day with another friendly match with the members at Capilano GC ( rated no 7 in Canada ). Therafter we explore Grouse Mountain, and visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge before the drive to Whistler where we stay for 3 nights

Whistler is famous for its snow skiing, but is equally wonderful in summer with all sorts of outdoor activities on offer. We spend a day doing just that- what would you choose?

White water rafting, peak to peak gondola rides, an eco trek to Lost lake, bear watching, bike riding the village trails, or Blackcomb Mountain Snowcat or 4WD adventures....

It makes our next day of golf at the scenic Chateau Whistler course seem most relaxing...

After Whistler we make the scenic drive to the spectacular Tobiano Golf Course which will instantly become everybody's favourite..

Our next stop is Blue River where we join a bear cruise. Then we head to Jasper- when we see the south face of Mount Robson looming above we can start getting really excited- as we approach some of the most dramatic terrain on earth. Our stop at Jasper will be for 3 nights, and the two days will be crammed with sightseeing (Medicine Lake, Maligne Lake Wildlife Centre, Athabasca River etc) and of course playing golf at the Stanley Thompson designed Jasper Park Golf Course (rated no 6 in Canada).

When we leave Jasper you will need to prepare yourself for one of the most amazing sightseeing days you will experience- we travel along the famous Icefields Parkway, a picturesque route that winds through the Canadian Rockies past ancient glaciers, vast icefields, and pristine lakes stopping at Athabasca Falls and Mount Edith Cavell.

We stop at The Columbia Icefield and board Ice Explorer vehicles and travel on to Athabasca Glacier.

Further down the parkway we stop at Lake Peyto and stroll the lake edge, then visit majestic Lake Louise, and head into Banff via Moriane Lake. What a day!

Our stay in Banff is 3 nights and our very full days will be spent exploring Banff and the Kananaskis National Park areas, perhaps paddling down Bow River, riding the Banff Gondola or walking spectacular Johnson Canyon.

Three Bears

And playing the world renowned Banff Springs Golf Course (rated no 8 in Canada), of course!

Stage 3: The Rocky Mountaineer

Stages 3 and 4 are optional stages of the trip, but both are iconic journeys in themselves

Stage 3 involves boarding the Rocky Mountaineer train for a 2 day trip back to Vancouver. The Golf leaf package includes a two level glass domed carriage and gourmet meals to complement the awe inspiring scenery of the Canadian Rockies
