1. Royal Queensland GC is generally rated as the no 1 course in Queensland. Although the site is relatively flat, it is beautifully bunkered and good test of golf for all levels of player. It is a course that demands decisions, and I like that. It is also a great walking course, and one of the better conditioned courses you will play.
2. Brookwater GC is a spectacular, dramatic course carved out of a steeply undulating bush site. The fairways are at times claustrophic, framed by tall white trunked eucalypt trees. But perhaps the most impressive feature is the high faced bunkering protecting the greens It is a championship course which will challenge all golfers.
3. Indooroopilly Golf Club offers a delightful golfing experience on the outskirts of Brisbane. Ross Watson has designed 36 holes using the natural terrain to great advantage- up and down through valleys, and over and around lakes and creeks. And it is great fun to play! Once off visitors should play the Red and Gold nines- which comprise the championship course. They won't be disappointed!
4. Pacific Harbour GC is a championship course on Bribie Island near Brisbane. This 'links like' course is carved through marshland and thick sub tropical vegetation, and most holes feature water hazards. The sandbelt style bunkering is also a feature. A round here will never be boring or bland! It is a championship course.
5. Brisbane GC dates from 1896 and is the third oldest in Australia. The club has hosted 19 Queensland Opens to date, with more to come in the next few years... The course was renovated in 2007 by Ross Watson, and while Watson was directed by the club to preserve the original layout, he has radically improved the look and playability of the course. Sandbelt style bunkering is a feature, and with water playing a part in a number of holes- a game at Brisbane is full of interest.
