Riverdale GC- holes 8
Riverdale GC
Riverdale is one of the new breed of golf courses springing up in Thailand.
Established in 2010 in northern Bangkok, Riverdale can be as little as a 30 minute commute from the city centre, although traffic congestion can affect times significantly.
The course was designed by Jonathan Morrow and Al Tikkanen who designed Red Mountain in Phuket- still my favourite course in Thailand..
Riverdale GC
While many of the courses around Bangkok are relatively flat, the designers have conspired to develop Riverdale as anything but flat.
Whilst I believe the hills and valleys were created in the process of sculpting out the lakes and rivers, it has the look of a naturally rolling hilly site.
It is a pretty course, and beatifully manicured.
Whilst you will enjoy the challenge each hole at Riverdale the picture post card moment comes at the par 3 eighth hole with it's island green (not unlike TPC Sawgrass).
And there is a twist!
The hole has an alternate green as well- a gorgeous looking postage stamp style green with pot bunker.
I think would always want to play both holes! (see pic top of page)

The finish to that first nine is memorable as both the dogleg par 4 seventh hole, and the long par 4 ninth hole combine with the remarkable eighth holes to make a strong finish. Memories of Riverdale will always be centred around the remarkable eighth holes, but it is a quality course in great condition and should not be missed by travelling golfers.
The Travelling Golfer recommends Riverdale as part of a golfing trip to Bangkok, or as a stopover en route to a golfing holiday in Hua Hin, Phuket, or Chiang Mai
