Thanh Lanh Golf & Resort- hole 18
Thanh Lanh Golf & Resort opened for play in 2021.
The course was designed by Nick Faldo, and is located in the Tam Dao Mountains ninety minutes from Hanoi.
The course covers a varying terrain with sections of the course playing through low lying water protected areas, as well as parkland, hillside and even links like holes
At the time we played the water levels on the grand lake were low and recent work on the mountain sides had left a scar on the landscape.
But blind Freddy could see that when the foliage hides the mountains scars, and the water levels are up that this could be a seriously attractive place to play golf.
It is a challenging course, with some world class holes
Notable holes include:
- hole 4, a very cool long downhill par 3 with water in play left & short

- hole 14, a unique walled round island par 3 sitting up like a fortress in the water
- hole 17, a short par 4 with trouble everywhere!

- hole 18, an imposing par 5 closing hole overlooked by the grand clubhouse (see pic top of page).
Thanh Lanh is a good course in an impressive setting.
It will surely mature with time to be one of Vietnam's treasures..
