Aspen Lakes GC was designed by William Overdorf, who was also responsible for a number of courses in the Washington area.
The course opened for play in 1997
Currently 2 nine holes are in play. The front nine is named ‘Hope’, and the back nine ‘Faith’
A 3rd nine was designed by Overdorf- no prizes for guessing the name of the proposed nine!, and it remains in the planning stage…
The property has some impressive housing on the estate- with only a few plots left, and the owners plan to add hotel type accommodation for golfers in the future.
An award winning restaurant completes the offer.
The course is known for the rich red sand in it’s bunkers which create a distinctive look.
More importantly the club is Audobon approved and sourced the red sand on site.
The course has a unique feel about it, and is nicely designed by Overdorf, who has given the routing a nice rhythm and variety of holes
Notable holes include:
- the par 4 eleventh hole around a lake
- the par 3 twelfth hole
- the split fairway par 4 fourteenth hole
- the par 3 fifteenth with water carry
- and the imposing, heavily bunkered, par 5 closing hole
