Dubai Hills GC- hole 5 approach

Dubai Hills Golf Club

Dubai Hills Golf Club was designed by European Golf design, with Gary Johnston as lead architect.

It opened for play in 2018.

Like many of the courses n the UAE the course is an integral part of a housing estate.

But the houses are relatively low profile on the Hills course and do not have a material affect.

With a desert sand base the architects have been able to sculpture a natural looking course with a strong strategic bent.

Of course this is only possible with a talented architectural team!

As a result the average player can enjoy their golf without being 'beaten up', and the better player making good decisions will have a ball!

Notable Holes include:

- hole 2, a mid length par 3 over a sandy arroyo to a well bunkered green.

- hole 3, a short par 4 that most will play as two arroyo carries to the green, but tempts the longer hitter to go direct. It is a very good hole!

- hole 5, a heavily bunkered par 5 with a spectacular city backdrop (see pic top of page)

- hole 9, an all water carry par 3

- hole 16, a really interesting par 4 with choices to be made on the tee- water right, sand left and a bunch of palm trees smack in the middle of the fairway..

The green is heavily bunkered left so the preferred approach from the right must take on the water. The safer tee shot left offers a more difficult approach..
