The Barossa ValleyThe Barossa Valley

Adelaide is the capital of South Australia, and Australia's fifth most populous city.

Known as 'the city of churches', Adelaide is regarded as one of the most liveable cities in the world.

Not far to the north lies The Barossa Valley, home of some of the most famous wineries in the country.

The Barossa Valley is noted for the quality of its red wines, and it's Shiraz in particular.

The benchmark for a quality shiraz in Australia is the Penfolds Grange and it's home is The Barossa Valley.

Henschke Wines are one of my favourites wineries and they too are found in the Barossa Valley.

The beachside suburb of Glenelg is THE place to stay on any golfing trips to Adelaide as it has accommodation options to suit every budget available right on the beach- and the dining options are endless - from takeaway meals to fine dining.

And Glenelg is beautifully positioned just a few minutes from the international airport, and only minutes away from four championship standard golf courses.

Golf In Adelaide

The cluster of four wonderful courses in Adelaide make it a perfect destination for a short golfing trip....

Royal Adelaide GC is perhaps best known of the four, and with it's early McKenzie influences has some iconic golf holes in the central dunes on the site.

And with it's Championship history, and a train running through the middle of the course, Seaton makes for memorable golf and should be on every golfers wish list.

Kooyonga GC is a very classy establishment which has also hosted many national championships and rates as one of the best courses in Australia.

A very private club, Kooyonga just oozes class, and is always well groomed.

Glenelg Golf Club is the surprise packet on any golfing trip to Adelaide.

Perhaps not as well known as it's neighbours, Glenelg was remodelled by Neil Crafter in 1998, and now presents a very serious golfing challenge and generally rates in the top 30 courses in Australia.

And it is great fun to play!

Off the correct tees, Glenelg is absolutely world class!

The Grange is a 36 hole club which is best remembered as the site of Greg Norman's first professional win.

Recently the club has The Shark in his role as a course architect back to remodel the East Course.

With two Championship courses on site, The Grange is a nice complement to the 'big three' and should be be part of every golf trip to Adelaide.

Great red wines, four championship courses in close proximity, a fun place to stay with lots of dining options, very little driving, and all close to the airport- sounds like an ideal golf trip to me!
