When Donald Trump bought Turnberry Resort he commissioned architects MacKenzie & Ebert to completely reimagine the Ailsa championship course.
In my opinion their work has pushed the Ailsa course to a world top 10 status.
Trump then engaged MacKenzie & Ebert to effectively build a new course on the site of the former Arran/Kintyre courses
The result is stunning.
The clifftop holes from 8-11 on The Robert The Bruce course rival the Ailsa course with dramatic clifftop settings and glorious sea views.
Of these the par 4 ninth hole is the standout hole, with tee and green on the clifftops exposed to all weather
The approach to a green surrounded by rocks and sea must carry sand and rough to find the safety of the putting surface
It's a fantastic golf hole!
