Located just a short drive from Waikiki Beach, Ko’olau Golf Club is amust play golfing experience for all Travelling Golfers heading to Hawaii.
The setting is absolutely majestic.
Ko’olau is routed through thick tropical jungle
With long carries off some tees, and tight fairways framed by completely unplayable jungle rough, Ko’olau is not for the faint hearted.
It is the Jurassic Park of golf- and while at times it is a wild ride- it is also a roller coaster of exciting dramatic golf, and not to be missed..
There are some special holes
The short dogleg par 4 tenth hole is a delight- an accurate tee shot reveals an approach to a green set in it’s own dell below you.
All you have to do is hit between the trees and over the jungle gully to safety.
The par 4 fifteenth overloads the senses.
The fairway runs along the base of the beautiful Ko’olau mountains, and requires two strong shots
Par here is well earned
The par 5 sixteenth hole continues along the base of the mountains with jungle intimidating on both sides of the fairway.
But it is the approach shot here that you will remember with the green well protected left and long by a pond
Hole 18 is perhaps ‘the signature hole’ at Ko’olau
It is a demanding par 4 which will ask questions of every golfer
The tee shot needs to be hit solidly to make a long diagonal carry over a gully, and of course the more aggressive you are with your line, the longer the carry, and the easier the second shot.
The approach needs to again carry diagonally over the gully to a green well protected by bunkers.
It's a fantastic golf hole!
