Welcome to Fantastic Golf Holes & where to find them!
Join us as we journey to picturesque Bled in Slovenia, one of the most romantic destinations in Europe.
Bled is a popular tourist destination and attracts people from all over the world
Bucket list activities include visiting historic Bled Castle and boating on Lake Bled
Just 10 minutes away is the majestic golfing resort of Royal Bled, originally the summer residence for the Yugoslav King.
Royal Bled has 5 star accommodation and dining and two golf courses: the 18 hole championship Kings’s course and a 9 hole course called the Lakes…
Both courses benefit from the sublime mountain backdrops and travel through some beautiful golfing terrain
The Lakes course is quite delightful, but it is the King’s course we came to play
On the King’s each hole is framed by forest and defends par robustly with strategically placed bunkers or water or both
And there is enough elevation change throughout to provide the variety needed to elevate the course from good to great!
It is a thinking man’s course
There are some wonderful holes at Bled:
- the short par 4 sixth hole is as pretty as a picture with water challenging the approach
- the long par 3 seventh is a challenging hole with a gorgeous mountain backdrop
- the island green at the 10th hole is reminiscent of the 17th at Sawgrass and great fun!
- and the long par 4 fourteenth hole from the high tee is both imposing and intimidating with water in play the length of the hole and around the green
But our favourite hole on The King’s course was the short par 4 eighth hole
With trees left and right the tee shot must carry a creek and a significant rise to hit the short grass
The fairway then bends slowly to the left to reveal a beautifully bunkered green in a picture book setting
An accurate short iron will set up a birdie opportunity!
It's a fantastic golf hole!
