Overview

 

On this 14-night golf & sightseeing tour you will play the best golf courses in South Africa, marvel at the wonderful scenery, taste the fabulous food and wine, visit aninal sanctuaries and experience the thrill of an African safari game drive - all whilst staying in luxury accommodation and being personally guided throughout.

The golf courses are handpicked by The Travelling Golfer and include games at the Number One Course in South Africa 'The Links at Fancourt' and the Number Two course 'Leopard Creek', overlooking Kruger National Park. You finish the tour with 3-nights at Buhula Ladge, a colonial-style safari lodge situated on the southern banks of Crocodile River bordering Kruger National Park.

Overview of your Tour 

The tour begins in George with a 5-night stay at the beautiful Fancourt Resort in the heart of the famous Garden Route. You enjoy a welcome dinner and play golf at 3 fabulous courses: Fancourt The Links, Pinnacle Point and Fancourt Montagu Courses. You will also spend a full day sightseeing on the Garden Route, visiting places such as Knysna Elephant Park, Monkeyland and more. If time permits, you can also play Fancourt Outeniqua and the 9-hole links experience.

You depart Fancourt and travel south to the picturesque coastal town of Hermanus, where you can enjoy land-based whale watching. You stay in a boutique Guest House for 2 nights and play golf at Arabella GC.

A scenic drive takes you to Cape Town where you stay in the Victoria & Alfred Hotel on the vibrant V&A waterfront. With 4-nights in Cape Town you have plenty of time to visit Table Mountain, do a full day tour to the Cape of Good Hope, visiting Cape Point Nature Reserve, Boulder Penguins and more. Tour the winelands of Stellenbosch and play golf at Pearl Valley. (rated 5)

You then fly from Cape Town to Nelspruit airport and transfer to Buhula Lodge. Three magical nights are spent at Buhula Lodge, where you can relax and dine on verandahs overlooking Crocodile River and Kruger National Park whilst spotting the Big 5. Your stay includes golf at Leopard Creek, a half day safari to Kruger NP and all breakfast and dinners.

The Links - a genuine links course that resembles a Scottish Links, but without the sea and wind. Designed by Gary Player and incredibly built on an old flat airstrip. Rated 1 in South Afirca.
Leopard Creek - a stunning course famous for its hole overlooking Kruger National Park. Last time we played there we watched hippos and elephants splashing in Crocoile River, with the sound of lions in the background. Rated 2 in SA.
Montagu - a beautifully presented and designed parkland course with water hazards and mountain backdrops. Rated 4 in SA.
Pinnacle Point - a clifftop course with dramatic views, built in breathtaking terrain. Rated 15 in SA.
Pearl Valley - located in the famous wineland region and beautifully positioned in a mountain valley, rated 5 in South Africa
Arabella - Set dramatically on the Bot River with thousand of waterfowl located in the wetlands. Rated 7th in South Africa.

Buhula Lodge 3-nights half board - Buhala Lodge is an enchanting five-star colonial style lodge, situated on the Southern banks of the Crocodile River. The ample veranda space provides all guests an opportunity to relax and dine outside while admiring gorgeous views of the Kruger National Park, and all the wild-life splendor it has to offer. Members of the Big 5 are frequent visitors to our property along with hippo, crocodile and many antelope species. Buhala Lodge is well known for exceptional cuisine and a wine list showcasing only the best South African wines. Dinners are served either al fresco or in our gracious dining room. Dinners are as a three-course meal with some options offered. An open-air bush spa is available at Buhala for guests who want to relax after a long day of game viewing.

Leigh is a golf enthusiast being a member of the Metropolitan and National Golf Clubs and having played many of the top golf courses around the world. With a GA of 5 he is a handy golfer and former pennant player, who looks to find challenging golf courses to play.

He was a member of the South Africa 2019 tour, led the Bandon Dunes Oregon tour in 2024 and was one of the team leaders on the Hamilton Island Teams Challenge.

Victoria Falls

One of the original natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls is a World Heritage Site and an extremely popular tourist attraction.

Post tour, transfer from Buhula Lodge to Kruger Mpumalanga airport for a direct flight to Victoria Falls. Transfer to the Royal Livingstone Hotel and check in for 2-nights. Do a tour of the Falls (Zambia & Zimbabwe sides), with option to add a sunset boat cruise. Check out and transfer to Victoria Falls airport.

Explore the sights of Victoria Falls with a 2-night stay at the Royal Livingstone Hotel, or the Victoria Falls Hotel - a gracious Edwardian style hotel that overlooks the Batoka gorge and has walking tracks to Victoria Falls.

Stay at The Palace of the Lost City, a 5-star hotel of African charm and elegance set within verdant gardens. 

Suggested itinerary:

Day One: Collected from Johannesburg airport and driven to Sun City Resort (2 hours)

Accommodation: 3 nights at the Palace of the Lost City, Superior Luxury Room, includes breakfast

Day Two: Play The Gary Player Course, rated 5 in South Africa and host course for the annual Nedbank Challenge. Includes caddies (no carts allowed) and halfway lunch.
