Oakland Hills- South Course, hole 18
History
Oakland Hills Country Club was founded in 1916, and has played a significant role in the history of golf in the United States ever since.
Walter Hagen, five time PGA Champion, was the club's first head professional.
There are two championship courses at Oakland Hills.
The South Course was designed by Donald Ross and has played host to:

Oakland Hills is known to be a testing layout, and some of the greats of the game have prevailed here including: Palmer, Player, Nicklaus & Hogan.
Nicknamed "The Monster", only the very best prevail at Oakland Hills Country Club.
The North Course followed in 1922, also designed by Donald Ross. It underwent a significant overhaul by Robert Trent Jones in the 1960's
Course
After playing the South course just once I am hardly an expert on playing Oakland Hills.
I think it would take me a while to get the feel for the course, and the lines of play required.
It is definitely a course that asks each of us different questions.
Some of the slopes that affect you are relatively unseen from the prior shot.
Multiple plays would definitely result in better scores and understanding and appreciation of the course
Notable Holes include:
- hole 1, a quality opening hole with bunkers both left and right for the tee shot and the approach.
