The Golf Club clubhouse
The Golf Club
The Golf Club is a private members club in New Albany, Ohio.
It was designed by Pete Dye and opened for play in 1967.
It was one of early designs in Dye's prolific career.
Largely based on flattish land, The Golf Course is an understated, yet compelling design.
The Golf Club has never hosted a tournament.
Course
The Golf Club is one of my favourite inland courses in the USA.
It does not host tournaments and is only playable by members and their guests.
So it stays largely out of the public eye.
But it really is a hidden gem!
Pete Dye is one of the world's great golf courses architects and is famous for designing: Harbour Town, Whistling Straits, Teeth of the Dog, TPC Sawgrass and so many more.
In my opinion the relatively little known "The Golf Club" one of his very best!
And with little movement through the site, The Golf Club is a very pleasant walk..
Notable holes include:
- hole 3, an extravagantly bunkered par 3 over water..
The Golf Club- hole 3
The Golf Club: Heather in the bunker, hole 3
- hole 8, a short par 3 over a creek to a green well protected by boarded bunkers

- hole 12, a strong par 4 with water to negotiate front of green.
The Golf Club- hole 12
- hole 14, a long par 5 with water in play left of green, and timber faced bunker on the right..
The Golf Club- hole 14 approach
- hole 16, a delightful par 3 with a valley, creek and bunkers to negotiate en route to the green..
The Golf Club- hole 16
- hole 18, a long strong par 4 over water to finish..
The Golf Club- hole 18 approach
The Golf Club is something a bit special.
It is a course you would love to play over..
In my opinion it deserves to be ranked as one of the top courses/ clubs in the USA
