Moraine CC- hole 16 approach
History
Moraine Country Club dates from 1930 when Scot Alec Campbell designed a Scottish linkstyle course.
In 1942 the club hosted an 18 hole exhibition match attended by Jimmy Demaret, Byron Nelson, Chick Herbert, and Tony Perra.
The event was a great success, and caught the attention of the PGA, resulting in the club hosting the 1945 PGA Championships won by Byron Nelson.
It was Nelson's 9th consecutive win, part of a run of 11 wins in a row and 18 our of 30 tour events played.
Moraine CC continues to host the Ohio State Championships each year since 1979.
In 2016 architect Keith Foster undertook an extensive and very succesful renovation of the course emphasising it's scottish links heritage.
Moraine CC is a quality championship course.
Moraine can be a demanding course, with a number of raised greens more suitable to higher ball flights.
Knowledge of the slopes and fall off's around the greens is most beneficial!
Notable Holes include:
- hole 1, a visually pleasing mid length par 4
- hole 2, a longer par 3 which demands a strong accurate tee shot. It is a good hole!

Moraine Country Club is without doubt a championship course, and a challenge for all golfers.
Some of the uphill holes were long and played longer, particularly if you have a low ball flight.
And the shorter holes required accuracy.
Bring you A game and you will enjoy your day.
