Australia is one of the best golfing destinations in the world.
Yes we might be biased, but there are plenty of top architects, tour players and course raters that would agree. The sandy soil, the climate, the terrain and the popularity of golf in Australia, all make for great golf courses. The Melbourne Sandbelt is well known for its classic, sand based courses. The famous couses of Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath are found here, and both are rated top 20 in the world. Sydney is a favourite destination for the overseas traveller due to the stunning harbour, and here they will find exceptional courses such as New South Wales and Royal Sydney.
Australia is made up of several states, and each state has something different to offer with regards to golf.
Victoria
The best golf will be found in Victoria as it is home to the Melbourne Sandbelt, the Mornington Peninsula and Bellarine Peninsula. Whilst some of the best courses are private, it is possible for interstate and overseas visitors to get tee times on them. You just need to be an accredited golfer and plan ahead. Courses such as Royal Melburne, Kingston Heath, Victoria, Metropolitan, Peninsula Kingswood, The National and Barwon Heads are world class courses that are in high demand. Thankfully there are many other courses that can be easily accessed such as The Dunes & St Andrews Beach on the Mornington Peninsula, and 13th Beach on the Bellarine Peninsula.
Victoria is The Travelling Golfers' backyard, so we can put together golf tours that can match your needs exactly. Melbourne is the sporting capital of Australia and home to the MCG, so make sure you time your visit so you can enjoy the the footy, the cricket, the Aus Open tennis, the spring races, the Grand Prix or one of many sporting events held in Melbourne. For the wine and food lover, the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula are a must visit.
Tasmania
Some of the world's best public access courses are in Tasmania. This remote island off the south east coast of Australia punches way above its weight where golf is concerned. With courses such as Barnbougle Dunes, Lost Farm, Cape Wickham, Ocean Dunes and the new 7-Mile Beach all rated in the top 20 in Australia, there are a lot of very good reasons to head to Tassie for your golf. If you avoid the depths of winter, you are going to love golf in Tasmania.

South Australia
New South Wales
Sydney is a great place for a visitor to spend a few days as it has plenty of great sightseeing - the Sydney Harbour, Opera House, Manly & Bondi Beaches and Blue Mountains. It also has some top golf courses. New South Wales GC is a 'must play', and Royal Sydney, The Australian or The Lakes would also make for a great golfing trip.
Queensland
Queensland is the place to go for warmer weather, beaches and excellent resort golf. The Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are where the best courses and resorts are located, and there are plenty to choose from.
For something a little more special, head to Hamilton Island located in the tropical Whitsunday islands. Hamilton Island GC is a spectacular course located on its own tropical island.
Golf & Wine
The Australian wine industry is the world's fifth largest exporter of wine! Wine is produced in every state in over 60 designated wine regions.
Famous wine regions include The Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale in South Australia, The Mornington Peninsula & Yarra Valley in Victoria, The Hunter Valley in New South Wales, and Margaret River in Western Australia..
So if you love your golf and your wine - a golf and wine tour to Australia should be on your 'bucket list'
