Big Cedar Lodge was conceived and built by conservationalist Johnny Morris, the founder of Bass Pro Shops.
He conceived Big Cedar Lodge as a destination for active people to get together to enjoy the striking wilderness that is the Missouri Ozark Mountains.

Buffalo Ridge is part of the Big Cedar Lodge Resort owned by Johnny Morris.
Morris recruited legendary architect Tom Fazio to totally rework the Buffalo Ridge course.
Buffalo Ridge is set in mountainous terrain with water, trees, and constant elevation changes keeping golfers on their toes.
It is a challenge for all golfers with four sets of tees offering golfing examinations suitable to all handicaps.
There is no let up!
Each hole demands decisions on line and length.
Take your chances or lay up to position to avoid a wipe!
Every hole is surrounded by trees and offers it's own 'playing corridors', but each have their own character!
Ponds, creeks and lakes must be carried!
Creeks wind their way beside fairways, and in some cases alongside greens- demanding decisions on line & length.
And copious amounts of bare rock not only dominate the visuals, but also further define the lines of play!
Buffalo Ridge is a serious golf course that would be perfect for professional tournament play, yet is still a wonderful golfing destination for the 'legends of travelling golfers' roaming the world..
Notable holes include:
- hole 5. a beautiful shorter par 4 where hitting the fairway is 'a must'. Large bunkers on the right side of the fairway must be avoided to allow a mid iron approach to a green angled right by three large bunkers and water right..

- hole 9, a long strong par 3 over water and rocks to a big rolling green
