Course Review
The Grand Golf Course is a dramatic and demanding course set in an attractive tropical Queensland landscape.
It is a very private course that is played by a relatively few lucky members (550 I believe).
It is well known for hosting the 2001 Australian Open.
You will be pleaseantly surprised as you drive into the The Grand (I'm sure everybody is! )
It is a botanic garden full of golf holes.. It’s lush and green and well looked after with lakes, greens, bunkers all melding into the bush background.
We played the grand on a very hot sunny March day with members Sid and Mike. Sid and Mike knew the course very well and were keen to show us all its secrets.
Summary
The Grand is a unique golfing adventure open to a privileged few members.
It is a championship course designed by Greg Norman, and 'The Shark' would be proud of his efforts - a grand course indeed!
It is not an easy course, in fact it can be quite challenging - particularly first time around..
What would you expect?
After all it is a championship course and has hosted the Australian Open. Experienced golfers will plot their way around, perhaps with a caddy, and appreciate knowing what is ahead of them..
And priviliged members are fortunate indeed!
