Tour Overview
Le Touquet was originally an area of wild dunes and forest on the northern coast of France- used as part of a hunting estate.
In 1902 it was developed as a golf and gambling resort, and is now regarded as one France's most elegant holiday resorts- and home to the rich and famous
The golf course- Le Touquet Mer was designed by the legendary Harry Colt in undulating coastal dunes, and has hosted five French Opens
Nearby in pine trees and sand dunes Tom Simpson another classic in Hardelot les Pins- a favourite of many.
The well placed bunkers, and occasional blind shot demand precise shot making
A drive of 2.5 hours then brings us Deauville- site of of France's most famous shopping centres.
Also close is the magniifcent Honfleur painter's port.
Deauville is also famous for it's casino, beaches and magnificent racetrack
In the immediate area are two quality courses- Belle Dune is a classic links course exposed to coastal winds.
By contrast Deauville Golf Course is another Tom Simpson design in a parkland setting overlooked by the Grand hotel
A further golfing treat nearby is Etretat Golf Course.
Located atop spectacular limestone cliffs overlooking the natural arches (Aiguille Creuse), Etretat is an authentic links course in a gorgeous setting.
Another 2.5 hours drive brings us to Dinard where the world famous island abbey Mont Saint Michel is a 'must do' sightseeing visit
Dinard has beautful beaches, and glorious coastal scenery and is a perfect holiday destination
Also nearby is the resort of Saint Malo- known for it's castle, the Cathedral of St Vincent, and the 14th century ramparts
The Dinard Golf Course is a traditional Scottish links courses designed by Tomm Dunn right on the coast.
The last golf course on the schedule also one of the prettiest- Pleneuf is a superb seaside links with breathtaking views of the sea from most of the holes
But wait- you must squeeze in a visit to Fort La Latte, chateau de Roche Goyon- a magnificent structure built on a rocky peak!
