Designed by Colin Montgomerie, Meishi Mayflower GC opened in 2003, and is located in sandy terrain just west of Haikou on Hainan Island, China

The course is also located just minutes from the Sheraton Haikou hotel.

We played the course on a perfect day for golf with overcast skies, and enough breeze to make you think!

Meishi Mayflower is set in a heavily treed tract of land, and holes appear to have been carved out of the forest.

I thought the course was very tight off the tee, and played long and difficult.

Perhaps the ball was not running like normal, but few irons were used to approach, and the greens were small and seldom hit in regulation.

And with all the trees drives just had to be accurate.

Two memories will always remind of Meishi Mayflower GC:

The first is the amazing clubhouse which reminds me of St Peterburg cathedral.

The 2nd is the view down 9 & 18 holes with the lake in the middle and the clubhouse behind...
