The concept was simple...
None of us are getting any younger and there are so many iconic golfing destinations to experience...
Most of us have family commitments and just don't want to be away too long- but a weeks golf at one of the pure golfing destinations around the world, with a small group of like minded individuals- lock it in!
The Players Club concept has been in operation for a number of years now and a small band of gentlemen golfers have enjoyed seeing the world in good company, and playing the great golf courses each year. In Los Cabos in 2017 the decision was made to plan a short trip to Hainan Island for 2018 and then prepare for a more significant trip to The Netherlands in 2019.
Hainan Island is perfect destination for a short golf trip from Australia. Jet lag should not be much of a factor with little change in time zones, and there are manageable flight options.
The golf courses are pretty decent too.
First up we stay at Mission Hills Haikou where there are 10 golf courses, a huge entertainment complex, a movie town, pools, spa etc
We play the tournament courses- Blackstone and Lava Fields as well as the charmingly offbeat Stone Quarry course. If the final flight schedules allow we may also play some golf on the afternoon of our arrival- perhaps on the par 3 course.
Our next stop is the amazing Shenzhou Peninsula where we stay in the Sheraton 5 hotel right on the beach, and play both the East and West courses designed by Tom Weiskopf. The courses are located on a sandy peninsula so slim that the courses touches the beach on both sides as you progress through the rounds. Large granite rocks dominate the outlook, and combined with oecan views, and seas of sand it is a truly unique golfing environment.
The Players Club trip numbers will be limited to a group of 8-12 players.
