South Africa features highly on most people's bucket lists and really does provide an amazing variety of experiences...
The southernmost country on the African continent is the 25th largest country in the world by land size, and the 24th most populous. It is a colourful melting pot of cultures, languages & religions.
For sheer diversity of unique experiences, it is hard to beat South Africa!
World Class Wine, Dining & Sightseeing
In South Africa you there is so much you can do, and so much you just can't miss!
Capetown is one such area. Stay in majestic hotels with world class dining experiences, and venture out on a day trip to the Cape of Good Hope. You will meet penguins, whales, baboons, and never forget the beauty of the setting. And then head on up Table Mountain in the cable car, and visit one of the iconic landforms of the world, where it feels like you can view the whole world below you....but make sure you pick a clear day!
First time visitors will find the wine and dining experience really first class, but be pleasantly surprised with how economical it all is!
Did I mention the wine? Try the pinotage, unique to Sth Africa and quite divine!
Not far out of Capetown the Winelands area around Stellenbosch provides a highlight of any South African trip, and can incorporate visits to wineries, tastings, fine dining, quality accommodation, and even championship golf!
Planes, Trains & Automobiles
The Garden Route east of Capetown along the coast is known as one of the great drives in the world. Heading down this route you can encounter Ostrich Farms, Caves, and views to die for...( and championship golf )
One of the real delights of South Africa is the rail services. Pamper yourself with a night or more on the old world 'Rovos Rail', or the more modern 'Blue Train'. And if the train makes a stopover at the Kimberley mines perhaps take the opportunity to bring home a trinket or two ( diamonds!!)
And then fly into Kruger. There is no doubt that the main event in South Africa is the safaris. There are many to choose from, but from personal experience we would recommend the private lodges on the outskirts of Kruger National Park. There the daily safaris and the interaction with the local people who act as guides and hosts- in fact the overall experience, can in the space of a few days have a profound affect on anybody.
It really is life changing!
Golf In South Africa
South Africa is a most succesful sporting nation, and this is also true in golf. All time great golfers like Gary Player, and Ernie Els call Sth Africa home, and golf has flourished there. Good golf courses abound. The Garden Route is home to a number of gorgeous courses like Pezula GC, and Arabella GC set right on the rugged coastline. There are world famous resorts like Sun City ( The Gary Player Course & The Lost City Course ) and Fancourt Resort which is home to three courses ( The Links at Fancourt, Montague & Outeniqua ).
And then there is the ultra private Leopard Creek GC overlooking Kruger National Park.
It is an intoxicating combination for a golf trip- world class accommodation, fine dining, fine wine, sightseeing, spectacular golf, and the safaris!
