 Trump International Golf Links on the coast near Aberdeen first opened for play in July 2012.

Set in gigantic dunes right on the coast it became an instant classic- a new style links championship course.

Now in 2025 a second course has opened for play.

Both courses work off a central clubhouse.

These are championship courses with the length to challenge even the pro's.

The New Course has five tees and plays up to 7589 yards on the back tees.

As you would imagine the golf holes meander between the big dunes rather than over them, but there is significant movement on most fairways.

The back nine in particular rises up and down over and around the dunes and is a vigourous walk.

 

Early and late in the round play stays low in the dunes but still challenges golfers with long holes and long carries over water hazards.

In the middle of the round, golfers encounter shorter holes with significant elevation change and some really engaging green complexes - before coming back to earth for the long run home.

It is a magnificent setting and perhaps a forerunner to championship courses in days to come.

With a stretch of 7589 yards off the back tee, the New Course is a brute to play.

The 5 tees measure 7589, 7127, 6717 ,6267 & 5760 yards.

That's long for anyone!

 

 

 

There are also some significantly long paths from green to tee throughout making it potentially a very long and tiring round.

It is a big walk..

 

Trump Aberdeen's New Course is a brilliant golf course, perhaps too difficult and tiring for many travelling golfers, but:

 It is a magnificent brute!

 

Notable holes include:

 

- hole 1, a very long 572 yard par 5 opener, with a huge water carry to start

- hole 2, a long, strong par 4 with a long water carry and bunkers everywhere..

- hole 4, is a long, strong par 4 with wetlands bordering the right fairway from tee to green.

- hole 7, is a dramatic and picturesque par 3 framed by a series of prominent bunkers and a distinct mountain backdrop..

- hole 10, a short par 4 exposed to the elements, with sea views. A birdie chance for the brave!

 

 

- hole 12, an elevated par 3 with gorgeous views of the north east coastline..

- hole 14, a nicely contoured par 4 that's not overly long. It has a lovely rumple through the fairway, surrounded by rolling dunes and a neat green complex.

Trump International's new course at Aberdeen has certainly raised the bar!

Both the Old and New courses are immaculate, both in design and condition.

They have been designed to test the elite or professional golfer, yet remain playable for those less talented.

 

It is perfect golfing terrain, through magnificent sandy dunes adjacent to the beach.

Yes, it is spectacular!

There are no less than six sets of tees, so punters should be able to find a tee to suit.

But there is a down side..

 

The number of tees and distance between them, plus the mileage between greens and the next tee really adds up.

.. leading to very slow rounds

Sadly motorised buggies will be the most popular mode of transport around the course and round times will blow right out..

 

Nevertheless Trump Aberdeen is a world class golfing complex, setting a new standard..
