  Painswick Golf Course

Painswick Golf Course was designed by George William Herbert and opened for play in 1891.

Herbert was a member.

The course was built on the remnants of an Iron Age fort which is over 3000 years old.

The remnants of the fort are most obvious on the 5th green site.

Painswick is a unique golfing experience through the signicant ups and downs of Painswick Beacon.

The 18 hole course is only 5000 yards long, with a par of 67.

It may be short but the undulating landscape is a stern test of skills for all golfers!

Notable Holes include:

- hole 1 (Attack), a short ( 224 yard) severely uphill par 4- Welcome to Painswick!
