Overview

 

On this 12-night golf & sightseeing tour you will play the best golf courses in South Africa, marvel at the wonderful scenery, taste the fabulous food and wine and experience the thrill of an African game drive - all whilst staying in luxury accommodation and being personally guided throughout.

The golf courses are handpicked by The Travelling Golfer and include games at the Number One Course in South Africa 'The Links at Fancourt' and the Number Two course 'Leopard Creek', overlooking Kruger National Park. 

Overview of your Tour 

The tour begins in George with a 5-night stay at the beautiful Fancourt Resort in the heart of the famous garden route, where you will play 3 courses: The Links, Pinnacle Point and Montagu Courses. You will also spend a full day sightseeing on the Garden Route.

You then fly south to Cape Town where you stay in the Victoria & Alfred Hotel on the vibrant V&A waterfront. With 4-nights in Cape Town there is ample time to visit Table Mountain, do a full day tour to the Cape of Good Hope, tour the winelands of Stellenbosch and play golf at Pearl Valley. (rated 5)

The tour finishes with 3-nights at Buhula Lodge, where you can relax and dine on verandahs overlooking Crocodile River and Kruger National Park whilst spotting the Big 5. Your stay includes golf at Leopard Creek, a safari game drive into Kruger NP and all dinners.

 

There is the option to end you tour here or fly direct to the famous Victoria Falls. For the ultimate indulgence, you could travel to Victoria Falls via the luxury Rovos Rail. For more pre and post tour suggestions see below.

The Links - a genuine links course that resembles a Scottish Links, but without the sea and wind. Designed by Gary Player and incredibly built on an old flat airstrip. Rated 1 in SA.
Leopard Creek - a stunning course famous for its hole overlooking Kruger National Park. Last time we played there we watched hippos and elephants splashing in Crocoile River, with the sound of lions in the background. Rated 2 in SA.
Montagu - a beautifully presented and designed parkland course with water hazards and mountain backdrops. Rated 4 in SA.
Pinnacle Point - a clifftop course with dramatic views, built in breathtaking terrain. Rated 15 in SA.
Pearl Valley - located in the famous wineland region and beautifully positioned in a mountain valley, rated 5 in South Africa
Outeniqua - the 3rd course at fancourt Resort, a delightful parkland course with wonderful scenery. It is rated 22 in SA and it's worth trying to squeeze a game in here whilst at Fancourt.

Members of the Big 5 are frequent visitors to our property along with hippo, crocodile and many antelope species. Buhala Lodge is well known for exceptional cuisine and a wine list showcasing only the best South African wines. Dinners are served either al fresco or in our gracious dining room. Dinners are as a three-course meal with some options offered. An open-air bush spa is available at Buhala for guests who want to relax after a long day of game viewing.

One of the original natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls is a World Heritage Site and an extremely popular tourist attraction.

Explore the sights of Victoria Falls with this 3-night stay at the Victoria Falls Hotel, a gracious Edwardian style hotel that overlooks the Batoka gorge and has walking tracks to Victoria Falls.

The Victoria Falls Hotel is an Edwardian Style hotel established in 1904 that overlooks the magnificent Batoka Gorge with the Victoria Falls only a 10-minute walk away through the hotel’s path. This gracious hotel is set in lush gardens, with three restaurants, a swimming pool, spa, hair salon, gym, mini golf (putt putt), in addition to an assortment of local art throughout the hotel grounds. The hotel epitomises the romance of grand travel with total relaxation. The highlight is traditional High Tea on the terrace and dinner at Jungle Junction offering a view of the Victoria Falls Bridge and Batoka Gorge, displaying the spectacular African show at night.

From Victoria Falls you head to Kasane (85kms) and take a short flight to Nxabega Camp in Botswana. The camp consists of 9 ensuite safari tents, set on suspended platforms tucked beneath a canopy of ebony trees. It is located in a 25,000 hectare exclusive wildlife concession on the edge of the Okavango Delta. The luxury tents provide a contempory spin on the traditional tented camping. Morning and afternoon game drives are a highlight, with extraordinary game viewing of giraffes, elephants, buffalo, hippo, lions, wild dogs, leopards, bird life and more. Your stay includes full board and all safari activities.

KIRKMANS KAMP SAFARI LODGE

SABI SANDS RESERVE

 

Kirkamns Kamp is our personal favourite. This gracious and historic lodge is located in the untouched wilderness of Sabi Sands Reserve, adjacent to Kruger National Park. Sabi Sands is South Africa's largest and most well known game reserve, and is renowned for its great diversity of wildlife and leopard sightseeings. The reserve is home to the Big Five and other rare and iconic species. The accommodation consists of 12 guest cottages with private verandahs and heaps of 1920's colonial charm. The main lodge has a swimming pool, and large shady verandahs to relax and enjoy your meals. Your stay here includes full board and safari activities. It is a 4 hour drive from Buhula Lodge to Kirkmans Kamp.

SUNCITY RESORT 

 

The famous Suncity resort has two world-class golf courses both designed by the legendary Gary Player - The Gary Player Course is rated 5 in South Africa and hosts the annual Nedbank Challenge, and the Lost City Golf Course is a desert style course complete with a water hazard that is home to 38 live Nile crocodiles! Stay at The Palace of the Lost City, a 5-star hotel of African charm and elegance set within verdant gardens.

Wednesday 30 April: Transfer to Johannesburg Airport.
