Sunningdale GC- New Course, hole 12
Sunningdale GC- New Course
The new course at Sunningdale was designed by renowned architect Harry Colt and opened for play in 1923.
Architect Tom Simpson was appointed in 1934 to re think holes 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 as they were thought to be to excessively undulating.
Over the years the New Course has to a degree 'lived in the shadow' of the Old Course.
But it has garnered a reputation as one of the best courses in the United Kingdom.
Notable holes include:
- hole 4, a strong par 4 with a demanding tee shot- both long and accurate- and a raised green with a false front!
- hole 5, a classic Harry Colt par 3 where missing the green is not a viable option. Awesome!
