Queenstown GC- hole 5 back
Queenstown Golf Club was initially formed in 1927, but moved to it's current site at Kelvin Heights in 1973.
The current course was designed by the Hensman and Grant families with assistance from Commander John Harris.
The club's peninsula setting boasts panoramic views dominated by the clear waters of Lake Wakatipu, the ever sprawling tourist hub of Queenstown, and the well named Remarkable mountains..
In recent years the club has made substantial investment in upgrading the course including clearing out a lot of trees and upgrading greens.
As a result the views from the golf course are quite stunning, making Queenstown GC one of the more scenic golfing experiences anywhere.
The green complexes were also upgraded and now have more movement, and potentially more pin placements.
However if the greens are running firm, or the wind is up players will be tested!
Approaches to the heart of some greens can slowly trickle right off the green...
Notable Holes include:
- hole 5, a picturesque par four that hugs the coastline as it arcs to the left (see also pic top of page)

- hole 9, a short, tight downhill par four with a Remarkable back drop and a green backed by Lake Wakatipu. You need to be accurate off the tee and brave with your approach!

- hole 10, a gorgeous short par 3 with water threatening short and left, and a lake view background

- hole 15, a short, downhill par 4 with water in play, trees both sides and a nicely positioned bunker protecting the green- AND what a backdrop!
