Dunbar Golf Club
Dunbar Golf Club is a popular local club on the coast south of North Berwick.
It is a members club, but does take green fee players on a regular basis.
Dunbar is sited right on the coastline with a number of holes abutting the North Sea.
History
Established in 1856, Dunbar Golf Club is located on'Scotland's Golf Coast' in East Lothian.
The true links course has been redesigned over the years by the likes of Old Tom Morris.
It boasts well-defined holes which follow the natural contours of a narrow strip of linksland adjacent to the rocky shoreline..
Course
Dunbar has a number of holes running along, to and from the coastline.
A number of holes outbound in the front nine run adjacent to inbound holes on the back nine.
When the course is busy this could be a concern.
But there are some very good holes!
Notable Holes include:
- hole 1 (Broxmouth Wood), a nice little par 5 protected by a burn winding across in front of the green
Durness GC- hole 1
- hole 3 (Jackson's Pennies), a mid length par 3 surrounded by 6 pot bunkers and with another bunker short of the green..

- hole 6 (Broxburn), a par 4- a slightly shorter par 4 bordered right by a tall rustic stone wall- AND a burn front of green to carry, not to plention two pot bunkers!

- hole 7, (Vaults), a slightly uphill mid length par 4 where the stonewall right continues to threaten!

- hole 9, (Longbanks), a compelling par 5 through topsy turvy terrain to a green unseen from the tee.
- hole 11, (Girgie Mire), a long flat fairway heading home..

Muirfield, Nth Berwick, The Renaissance Club, Gullane (no 1, 2 & 3), The Glen, Kilspindie & more are all in close proximity ( in East Lothian)
The charming old township of North Berwick adds to the appeal with all levels of accommodation and meals
East Lothian is a wonderful world class golfing destination and relatively affordable!
