Singapore City skyline

Singapore is one of the world's prime financial and trade hubs, and is a relatively safe, clean modern city.

It is an interesting place to visit, and easier than most Asian destinations to navigate for 'westerners' as English is understood and accepted by many- no doubt due to its colonial heritage.

Singapore's gardens by the bay

Whilst I would not have immediately thought of Singapore as a holiday or golfing destination, it does have its merits.

It is however a relatively expensive place to stay...

One place worth dropping in to see is the iconic Raffles hotel. Perhaps a gin sling on the verandah?

Non golfers can be content exploring the exotic Gardens by the Bay, or heading to Sentosa Island for the theme parks, or to ride the gondola. And then there is the shopping!

Gondola- Singapore

There are a number of golf courses of high standard, however a few stand out.

The best course in Singapore at present is the Serapong Course at Sentosa GC.

There is also the Tanjong course at Sentosa which is about to be remodelled, and based on the plans should also be a preferred option in a top quality golfing break.

Horizon Hills is a Malaysian course close to Singapore that I would include in the line up, and Ria Bintan would also be a must play, although it can only be accessed via an hour long ferry ride to nearby Bintan Island.

The course has in previous years been rated the best in Asia and has some spectacular sea side holes...

For a extended trip the two courses at Bintan Lagoons could be considered.

When planning a golfing or family trip to Singapore the location and style of accommodation is paramount, and will to a certain extent dictate modes of transport suitable to the tour party.
