France is one of the leading nations in the world, and the most popular tourist destination of them all. No wonder it is the most visited country in the world- the combination of history, culture, gastronomy, and wine is irresistable!

Paris is everybody's favourite city with Notre Dame, The Palace of Versailles, The Louvre, and The Eiffel Tower all tourist icons.

But France is so much more than Paris!- everwhere you go, the culture, the history, and the way of life charm you.

French Gastronomy is well known- whether it be escargot (snails), Coq Au Vin (chicken in red wine), cheese, bread, or their magnificent croissants. And don't forget the wine!

Whether it be the sparkling wines from Champagne, or the famous red wines from Bordeaux, France is THE wine country!

France is also blessed with a fascinating history of art with Impressionists such as Monet, Gaugin, Cezanne & Renoir leading the way. Monet's Garden is a leading tourist destination, and there are musuems at every turn. The Chateaux that dot the landscape demonstrate dramatic architectutral flair just a well as the paintings on the walls within. Nobody should miss the opportunity to visit the Palace of Versailles, or Fountainbleau Palace, or Chambord, or the many wonderful structures in the Loire Valley.

The french language oozes romance, and the french are leaders in fashion, gastronomy, art- and have been significant contributors to western society as we know it. In sport the french excel in soccer, rugby, equestrian, tennis and host world famous events such as The Tour de France, and the French Open tennis at Roland Garros.

Golf in France

France has not been known as a golfing country over the years, although some of the better courses in continental Europe are French. Exquisite courses reminscent of English heathland courses- Morfontaine, and Fontainebleau lead the way. Both were designed by Englishman Tom Simpson who also designed Chantilly, Chiberta and d'Hardelot amongst others in France, Royal Zoute in Belgium, Sunningdale & The Berkshire in England, Muirfield in Scotland and many others throughout Europe.

Not many great French golfers spring to mind- but Arnaud Massy was probably the most successful and Jean Van De Velde is undoubtably the most well known after his sad Open Championship meltdown. But times are a changing in France with the 2018 Ryder Cup heading to France, talented golfers like Victor Dubuisson emerging and many new courses being developed. One of these is Saint Emillionais near the ancient wine centre of Saint Emillion. Designed by legendary architect Tom Doak, St Emilionaiss is destined to challenge the best courses in France in coming years.
